Welcome

Welcome to the Killeen Association of Texas Professional Educators web site. With more than 1,000 members, we are the largest educational association serving the Killeen Independent School District. Believing that it takes an entire community to educate children, our "all inclusive" membership policy includes teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, retirees, teacher trainees, college students, and the general public. All we ask is that you be interested in the education of children. We are part of the 112,000 plus member Association of Texas Professional Educators, the leading educators’ association in the state and the largest independent association for public school educators in the nation.

Legal Q&A
How far is too far when it comes to restraining students?

Question: I recently had to restrain a student who was about to hit another student. The first student’s mother got mad and complained, and now my principal has told me to never again touch a student. What am I supposed to do if I’m placed in a similar situation in the future?
Answer

One-stop advocacy
Getting politically involved at the ATPE state convention

Attending the 30th Annual ATPE State Convention is a great way for members to become more closely involved with their professional organization. It’s also a great opportunity for members looking to become more politically active to take a larger role in ATPE’s advocacy efforts.
